Happy One Year Anniversary City of Pasadena. An ETRM Success Story.

When the City of Pasadena selected SettleCore™ ETRM over a year ago they required an energy trading and risk management (“ETRM”) system to be fully integrated with their Bid-to-Bill shadow settlements system. Their story was a common one among their utility industry peers. They were looking for a vendor that had one single system that encompassed all of their ETRM needs and their Bid-to-Bill needs – including their communications with the Independent System Operator (“ISO”), uploading bids and offers, and performing shadow settlements and reporting. The Pasadena Water and Power Department (PWP) began as the Pasadena Municipal Lighting Works Department, which was officially created in 1906. The City’s first steam plant began operating in June 1907, and initially provided service to the City’s residential customers. The City has continued to expand its electric distribution system to meet the demands of its residential, commercial, industrial and public sector customers. PWP serves about 64,000 electric retail customers with a peak load of approximately 320 Megawatts (MW) and a resource mix of local steam and gas turbines, small hydroelectric, and long-term power purchase agreements.
